vets today got back to winning ways beating sutton athletic vets 4=1 at home, after hearing of oppos recent results beating cobham&molesey we were expecting a tough game but it turned out to be a very comfortable win with us dominating the whole game apart from a ten minute period, phil( the ox) rea was unbeatable in defence ably assisted by higgy/reynolds and my man of match butcher playing at left back filling in for the unfortunate paul walker who this week had it confirmed has ruptured cruciate ligament, hopefully back playing again in 12 months time,i know personally what thats like operation and rehab, anyway after so many years of john the ref never awarding us a penalty we had one given for second home game on trot after john wood was pushed in the back so with knotty our regular pen taker on bench up stepped minnihane manager caffell and dan poulter on sidelines discussed how he would miss it and he duelly obliged but keeper could only parry it back to minnihane to score at second attempt, the midfield of capper, martin monk and wood passed the ball all around the pitch switching play and very good quick tempo crisp passing to each other so much that sutton couldnt get into any rythym.even the maurauding rea and higgy made good dribbling runs into oppos half, also blomeley had very good first half on right wing laying the ball first into cappers then later monks feet but both wasted excellent scoring chances h/t1-0. monk departed for family do so replaced by knott and blommers took well deserved rest for another new addition in oneill, after slow start to 2nd half we won a corner from which reynolds powered in a header to score then a break down the right resulted in knotty finishing with a delightfull chip over keeper to make it 3-0, sutton finally got into the game now and managed to pull a goal back from deflected shot but minnihane finished them off with another well worked goal, and was unfortunate not to score his hatrick from well delivered reynolds cross which he headed home well but was adjudged to be offside still small mercies as we would never have heard the end of it caffell on for martins for last ten minutes just remembered i started the move off for that last goal which was more of contribution than nearly all of last weeks game, again opposition remarked how we have a very good footballing side which is allways nice to hear, week off next week then home to knollmead in fortnight who beat us 6-5 not too long ago.well done lads and hopefully few more back from injury by then.
