vets continued their recent run of form with a home 2-1 win v a youthfull looking whittan we only played them in december winning 3-1 and i only reconised a few of the same players these were definetley younger players ,ruts vets had a healthy 16 players and rotated the squad frequently, after controlling the game in the early stage of the match playing good short passing and movement which was vital as the pitch was still frozen hard, we managed to concede a sloppy goal from a corner when a near post ball created confusion between roly and kev butcher and ended up in net without any help from opponents, 0-1 after twenty or so mins the first wave of subs took to the pitch and after a short while taking time to settle in we equalised when simon young broke through and managed to chip the keeper who was flat footed on the icy pitch,1-1, paul cook shot narrowly wide shortly after, then we took the lead when a cross from out wide was controlled by jel cappers go-nads to fall nicely for him to volley home 2-1.we nearly gifted whittan another goal when more confusion between roland and defender let them in after back pass but we managed to clear in nick of time,2nd half was played out without many chances by either team created on difficult pitch so f/t 2-1 on few chances created throughout match we deserved to win against not too strong opposition but tough run of games in next few weeks coming up starting next week away to kingswood at kingston university tolworth.
