Vets returned to winning ways today beating burlington 4-1 at tolworth crt{,kingston uni grd,}the fact we were playing on excellent pitch played into our hands against a pretty average burlington vets in that we could play the ball around in confidence and have burlington chasing shadows for most the game but as usual we made hard work of it in first half and after missing a hatfull of chances in front of goal burlington took the lead when their forward bearing in on goal while being chased by caffell suddenly pulled up with tight calf again and unchallenged squared the ball for another forward to tap in,not long after though we were level when raife and wood combined to cross for minnihane to smash home from close range although keeper got good hands on it soon after we took the lead when john wood scored his first of the day h/t2-1 second half knotty came on up front with blomeley and with burlingtons older legs fading on a hot day combined with our neat short passing we created many more openings first blomeley broke clear of defense but hit the bar with lob before wood finished them off with quick fire brace to complete his hat-trick to be swiftly substituted straight after so he had plenty of time to get the beers in for lads to celebrate his 3 goals.
To be fair he has probably been our most consistant player this season cementing his place in centre midfield with plenty of competition in that area and scoring fair share of goals to be our frank lampard in vets
